Pastor Colin Pugh II is the Senior Pastor at Clinton Baptist Church, where he was installed in September of 2019. Born and raised in Washington, DC, he graduated from McKinley Tech High School in 1992. Pastor Pugh responded to the Holy Spirit’s tugging and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 2000. Pastor Pugh later graduated from Washington Bible College, present-day Lancaster Bible College. He also successfully completed an intensive study at Georgetown College in Kentucky under Dr. Joel Gregory, with special emphasis on textual exegesis, hermeneutics, and homiletics.
Before entering full-time ministry, Pastor Pugh had a successful career as a Building Engineer. He and his family spent 19 years serving faithfully in various ministries within Kettering Baptist Church. Pastor Pugh held the position as the Pastor of Youth and Administration from 2009 - 2019. In addition to serving as the senior pastor of Clinton Baptist Church, Pastor Pugh also serves as Urban Church Replant and Revitalization Specialist, for the North American Mission Board (NAMB) as a contractor.
Under Pastor Pugh’s leadership, Clinton Baptist Church is growing both spiritually and numerically. The relationship between the church and the Clinton community is being revitalized through cultivated partnerships with community leaders, schools, local businesses, and organizations. In his committed service to the Lord, Pastor Pugh is leading Clinton Baptist Church to fulfill their vision, “We Grow, We Serve, We Love.”
Some of Pastor Pugh’s notable awards include Youth Pastor of the Prince George’s Baptist Association (2011), Nelson Mandela Service Award for Prince George’s Outreach Church of the Year (2021), NAMB’s Billy Heriford Replanter of the Year Award (2021), and recognition by Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital for the community partnership that has been established (2023).
Pastor Pugh is a loving husband to one wife, Jeanette, father to four children; daughters LaMonica (father-in-law to Olamide Ikuomola, and grandfather to Malachi Ikuomola) & Jasmine; and sons Colin III (grandfather to Kaliyah Pugh) & Jackson.
